LocoRoco, a popular game

demo for the Playstation Portable.

For those of you out there that are BEGGING me for homebrew games, I have a solution that just may satisfy you. Several websites have released free, legal game demos that you can transfer to your PSP. Unlike homebrew games, these game demos will not harm your PSP in any way and do not take up much memory card space. For those of you who have no clue what homebrew is, homebrew refers to programs such as games, utility software, and the like, that are made at home by individual people (as opposed to development companies). These homebrew games can severely damage your PSP and the Sony warranty will not cover damage caused by homebrew games. Please do not contact me asking for homebrew games because frankly I will never recommend them and it is illegal.  Remember, update your PSP's firmware to the newest firmware before beginning this how-to! (See How to Update your PSP's Firmware.)

There are 2 ways to get game demos on your PSP.   Method #1 is if your computer has an internet connection and you would like to transfer the demos to your PSP.  Method #2 is if you have access to a wireless internet connection (SeeHow to establish an internet connection on your PSP
) and can download the game demos straight to your PSP.

Method #1:

1. On your computer, open up your internet browser and go to thePSP Game Demos Center where you'll find the filename of each game demo.

2. Determine which game demo you would like to play on your PSP  and click on the orange arrow in the right column.  On the next webpage that comes up, locate the orange "Download" button and click on it.  Click "Save" and ;ocate a place where you can easily find the file, preferably the Desktop and click "Save". Wait a sec while it downloads.

3. After the save is completed, locate the folder and "Unzip" the folder to a different location on your computer.

Unzipping a file:

To unzip a file, right-click the file and then click Extract on the shortcut menu, but newer versions of Windows XP can do this automatically, all you need to do is click on the folder. If there is no "Extract" option, will need to download a program to decompress the file. WinZip is an excellent program to do this, and is free for download. Visit http://www.winzip.com/ to download the program to unzip files. Or if you tend to download programs and extract files such as ZIP, RAR, ACE, frequently, download Extract Now. To download Extract Now, click the below button:

Get it from CNET Download.com!

WinZip or Extract Now are both great programs to have on your computer because they will always come in handy.

4.  Go through the process of unzipping the file to somewhere on your computer, preferably your Desktop.  Now, connect your PSP to your computer using either a memory card reader or a USB cable.

Note: Make sure that both your computer and your PSP recognize that the PSP is connected to the computer.  For your PSP to recognize your computer, Select (USB) under (Settings) in the PSP home menu and press X.  If your PSP is connected correctly, the screen should read “USB Connection”.

Your computer will then indicate that it detects your PSP.  Chances are, your computer will read your PSP as a "Removable Disk Drive".

5.  Now open "My Computer" on your computer and double click on the Removable Drive or PSP drive icon.

Go to the "PSP" folder and then the "GAME "folder.  If there is no "GAME" folder create one in all caps.   Copy the demo file, which should be called EBOOT.PBP, into the "UCJS10036" folder. If a "UCJS10036" doesn't exist, create one and be sure to use CAPITAL letters. If you want more demos on your PSP, just create different folders with names like UCJS1050 or UCJS1022 and paste the files in there.

6. Now disconnect your PSP from your computer.   Scroll right on the home screen to Game, then down to Memory Stick. Press 'X' to run your new game demo!!!

 Method #2:

1.   If you are able to get access to a WiFi connection or have a wireless connection in your house (SeeHow to establish an internet connection on your PSP, you can instantly download new and exclusive game content to your PSP– all for free! Besides game demos, you can also download:
