To Put Music Onto Your Playstation Portable via a Computer follow these steps:

1. Once you have your audio files (see compatible audio files above) saved somewhere on your computer, make sure there is enough available space on your Memory Stick Duo for the files you would like to transfer. To see the free space on your PSP, go to the main menu screen and go to either (Photo), (Video), or (Game) and Highlight (Memory Stick Duo). Your free space will be displayed.

Notice: You must have your Memory Stick Duo formatted before you out music on your PSP.

2. Connect your PSP to your computer using either a memory card reader or a USB cable.

Note: Make sure that both your computer and your PSP recognize that the PSP is connected to the computer.  For your PSP to recognize your computer, Select (USB) under (Settings) in the home menu and press X.  If your PSP is connected correctly, the screen should read “USB Connection”.

Your computer will then indicate that it detects your PSP.  Chances are, your computer will read your PSP as a "Removable Disk Drive".

3. Located the drive where your PSP is.

Once you open that drive there should be a folder named “PSP”.  Click on “PSP” and open the “Music Folder”.

4. Copy and paste the songs you would like to have on your PSP.

Tips:

    • If you rip audio CD tracks into MP3 format, the best setting for the bit rate is 128k because you will get a good balance of sound quality and file size.  If you insist on having exceptional sound quality, have a little extra space on your memory card and set the bit rate to 192k.

Music Groups

A music group is a folder of music you arrange in a certain order such as by album or band. Music groups are created and changed using a computer; you cannot create or edit groups using your PSP.

To create a music group:

1. Connect your PSP to your computer, as explained above, and find the “MUSIC” folder under the “PSP” folder.

2. Create a subfolder in the MUSIC folder. You cannot create a folder within a subfolder because your PSP will not recognize the folder.

See this photo if you do not understand what I mean:

3. Add compatible music files to the subfolder.

4. To edit a music group just add, delete, or move subfolders and music files as you wish.

You are finished!!!

To view the songs you just transferred:

Highlight  "Music" from the home menu of your PSP.

Select "Memory Stick" and click X

Select the icon of the track or group you want to play and click X.

While listening to audio files, press Triangle at any time to display the Music Control panel.
