First of all, I want to make this clear: Downloading Windows Vista for your PSP will not harm your PSP in any way and is not considered homebrew. The program is a set of webpages that is like a website but is offline, meaning you do not need to be connected to the internet to use it. All you need to do is just use your PSP internet browser to have Vista on your PSP.
1. Begin by clicking the button to the left to download PSPWxP to your computer. Yes, I know that it says that it is Windows Xp for PSP, but that is a typo. Once you download it to your PSP, it will be Windows Vista.
2. After you arrive at the website, click "Download Now" at the top. When the pop-up comes up asking you to save or open the file, click "Save" and save the folder somewhere on your computer. After the save is completed, locate the folder and "Unzip" the folder to a different location on your computer.
Unzipping a file:
To unzip a file, right-click the file and then click Extract on the shortcut menu, but newer versions of Windows XP can do this automatically, all you need to do is click on the folder. If that is not an option, you will need to download a program to decompress the file. WinZip is an excellent program to do this, and is free for download. Visit http://www.winzip.com/ to download the program to unzip files.
3. After you have the unzipped folder somewhere on your computer, connect your PSP to your computer using either a memory card reader or a USB cable.
Note: Make sure that both your computer and your PSP recognize that the PSP is connected to the computer. For your PSP to recognize your computer, Select
Your computer will then indicate that it detects your PSP. Chances are, your computer will read your PSP as a "Removable Disk Drive".
4. Now run the "Install.exe" program in the unzipped folder and locate the drive of your PSP from the drop-down menu. Click "OK" and wait for the files to transfer to your PSP.
Note: After i clicked "OK", it appeared the program was frozen, but it was not. That is normal for it to appear frozen and you will know that the transferring is completed with the message comes up on your screen. If it has been 5 minutes and your pop-up box still has not come up, try installing it again. It actually took me 3 times for the files to transfer successfully! If the install will not run, you must install Windows Vista for PSP manually (See below).
5. Unplug the USB cable from the PSP after it has finished copying and open the internet browser of the PSP from the main menu and type in the following web address:
"file:/pspWxp/index.htm"
(without quotes)
6. Press enter and press Triangle to hide the browser's toolbars and press triangle again to show it. You should now be at the Windows Vista desktop. If not, go to troubleshooting.

How To Change the Picture for Your PSP Windows Vista Desktop:
1. Click on the tiny Windows sign in the bottom left hand corner and click on "Settings" from the menu.
2. Make sure the box is checked for "Background Image" and click the "Select" button.
3. Now either open the /PICTURE folder or the /PSP/PHOTO folder and find the picture you want as your wallpaper.
4. Wait for the image to load and click "Change"
Installing Windows Vista for your PSP manually:
1. After you have downloaded and unzipped the folder as explained above, plug your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
2. Copy the folder "pspWxp" (without quotes) directly onto the PSPs memory card. (most likely E:\) The folder should be called "PSP".
3. Unplug the USB cable from the PSP after it has finished copying.
4, Go into the internet browser of the PSP
5, Type in the address "file:/pspWxp/index.htm" (without quotes) and press enter.
6. Press Triangle to hide the browser's toolbars (press triangle again to show it).
7. You should now be at the Windows Vista desktop. If not, go to troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting:
Q. I get a message saying "The content connot be displayed"
A. First make sure you typed in the address PERFECTLY right (file:/pspWxp/index.htm). If the error still occurs, you may not have put the files in the right place. Reinstall it from the computer and if that also fails, it's probably a bug. Please E-mail me so I can report it.
Q. I can't get to the desktop after the loading screen OR the text on the desktop and the start menu look squashed
A. The display mode must be set to normal. Change it by pressing triangle to bring up the toolbar and scroll to "View" and press X. Change the Display mode to "Normal."
Q. Why do programs take so long to load and close?
A. Obviously, your PSP isn't an actual computer so all the programs will not run super fast. In addition, the file is under 5 megabytes and you cannot expect lightning fast speed with that small of a file.
