These are the picture formats that the PSP accepts with the newest firmware:

  • JPEG
  • TIFF
  • PNG
  • GIF
  • BMP

1. Once you have the photos you would like to transfer (see compatible formats above) saved somewhere on your computer, make sure there is enough available space on your Memory Stick Duo for the files you would like to transfer. Also, ensure that your memory stick is formatted if this is your first time using your Memory Stick Duo.

2. Now either connect your PSP to your computer via USB cable or insert your Memory Stick in your computer’s memory card reader if your computer has that capability.

Note: Make sure that both your computer and your PSP recognize that the PSP is connected to the computer.  For your PSP to recognize your computer, Select (USB) under (Settings) in the home menu and press X.  If your PSP is connected correctly, the screen should read “USB Connection”. Your computer will then indicate that it detects your PSP.  Chances are, your computer will read your PSP as a "Removable Disk Drive".

3. Located the drive where your PSP is.

Once you open that drive there should be a folder named “PSP”.  Click on “PSP” and open the “Picture” folder”.

4. Copy the photo/image files from your computer into the “Picture” folder on your Memory Stick Duo or under the “PSP” folder.  You can organize the photos how you want in the “Picture” folder.  Create a new folder inside the “Picture” folder, give it a title, and copy some photos in the new folder.  If that’s to confusing look at this diagram:

Now you can set the photo as your PSP wallpaper, send the pic to a friend, or just simply view them on your PSP!!!

Additional Notes:

  •       You can create subfolders inside the “Picture” folder, but folders within subfolders are not recognized by the PSP and cannot be viewed on the PSP.

  •     Your PSP might not be able to display some photos, depending on the size of the image data. Additionally, some photos/images that have been edited on a computer might not be able to be viewed.  But, most likely your PSP will display the images perfectly.
